The homeowners of this stunning lakefront property wanted to maximize their enjoyment of the waterfront views by enhancing their outdoor living space. They turned to Keystone Building Group for a solution that would allow them to utilize their outdoor area year-round, creating a seamless blend of beauty and functionality.
Assessing and Planning
The project began with an engineering inspection of the existing deck, which was found to be structurally unsafe. Once it was determined that the deck needed to be removed, the homeowners tasked Keystone Building Group with designing an outdoor living space that would make the most of the available area. Our goal was to create a versatile and inviting space that could be enjoyed in all seasons.
Comprehensive Outdoor Design. Maximizing Space and Functionality for Year-Round Enjoyment
Outdoor Kitchen and Living Room
The new design incorporated an outdoor kitchen and an outdoor living room under the new deck. Using Tennessee field stone, we created a beautiful wall surrounding a fireplace and recessed TV, adding warmth and style to the space. A custom barn door was crafted to close off the TV when not in use, protecting it from the elements and maintaining the aesthetic appeal.
Innovative Water Management
To ensure the space remained dry and usable, Undercover Systems, Inc. installed ceiling panels under the deck boards to catch water. Built-in gutters and downspouts were seamlessly integrated into the cedar support columns, providing effective water management and maintaining the space’s functionality in all weather conditions.
Functional Storage Solutions
The previously unused space under the lower deck was transformed into storage for kayaks, with easy access to the lake. We designed doors that disguised their functionality to blend with the lakefront view. The shadow wall design on the side wall of the kayak storage area allows for ample ventilation, ensuring that wet lake accessories dry properly while stored.

Hot Tub and Sitting Area
The landscape design included a luxurious hot tub and a separate sitting area, complete with Adirondack chairs and a fire pit. This cozy spot is perfect for making s’mores, roasting hot dogs, and enjoying evenings by the lake.
Sunroom Conversion
The old screen porch off the kitchen was converted into a bright and cheerful sunroom. This transformation turned a previously dark and gloomy space into a vibrant area perfect for relaxing and enjoying the lake views year-round.
